Lapidus: Architect of Joy Inaugural Historic Preservation Gala

Lapidus: Architect of Joy is a feature documentary celebrating the visionary architect Morris Lapidus, whose playful designs transformed Miami Beach and redefined modern luxury.
Through rare archives, global interviews, and cinematic reenactments, the film uncovers how Lapidus turned “too much” into timeless joy. Though derided by critics as flashy or vulgar, Lapidus remained resilient, staying true to his belief that architecture should delight the public. From the Fontainebleau to the Eden Roc and beyond, his buildings shaped culture as much as skylines. The project connects past to present, inspiring today’s designers and reminding us that architecture, at its best, makes people smile.
As part of the film production, there will also be a one-of-a-kind Gala Event at the Eden Roc on March 14, 2026. The evening will transport guests back to the hotel’s 1950s Pompeii Supper Club spirit while honoring leaders in preservation.
The evening will gather over 200 high-profile architects, designers, civic leaders, and preservation advocates, creating a powerful platform for visibility.
