Los Kjarkas 55 Años

Bolivian folk traditions and Andean music take center stage in a concert celebrating more than five decades of Los Kjarkas at the Manuel Artime Theater. Taking place Friday, August 21, the performance marks the group’s 55-year career with music spanning huayño, saya, cueca, tinku and contemporary Andean styles, alongside special guests representing different generations of Bolivian music and culture.

Founded in Bolivia, Los Kjarkas have become one of the country’s most internationally recognized folk ensembles, carrying Andean instruments, vocal harmonies and regional rhythms to audiences throughout Latin America and beyond. Their extensive repertoire has helped introduce Bolivian musical traditions to generations of listeners while influencing artists across the region.

Special guests include composer and charango player Fernando Torrico, known for his longstanding career in Bolivian folklore, and Mario Ramírez of Dúo Negro y Blanco, whose music blends folk traditions with romantic song. Bolivian digital personality Albertina Sacaca also appears, with DJ Leche providing music as part of the evening’s broader celebration of Bolivian culture.
