Man of La Mancha

A timeless tale of idealism and resilience returns to the stage in a production that celebrates both a theatrical legacy and the enduring power of dreams. As the second offering in its milestone 30th anniversary season, Actors’ Playhouse brings back a musical that helped define its earliest years.

Man of La Mancha will run on select dates from December 10, 2025 through January 11, 2026 at Actors’ Playhouse at the Miracle Theatre. Written by Dale Wasserman with music by Mitch Leigh and lyrics by Joe Darion, the Tony Award–winning musical is inspired by Miguel de Cervantes’ Don Quixote and framed as a play-within-a-play, unfolding as Cervantes and his fellow prisoners await trial during the Spanish Inquisition. At its heart is the story of Alonso Quijana, who imagines himself as the noble knight Don Quixote, setting out to battle injustice with unwavering conviction.

Featuring a rousing, Spanish-inflected score with classics like “The Impossible Dream,” “Dulcinea,” and “I, Don Quixote,” this production marks a full-circle moment for the company, revisiting the musical that opened its original Kendall location and later its Miracle Theatre home. Part of the 2025–2026 Mainstage Season titled A Season of Truth and Illusions, this revival honors the enduring spirit of Actors’ Playhouse and its audiences. Single tickets go on sale August 1.
