Medita en La Naturaleza
Mar 15, 2026
From: 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM
A full day of guided mindfulness unfolds within the forested grounds of Patch of Heaven Sanctuary in Homestead.
Medita en La Naturaleza – Retiro de Mindfulness en Español takes place Sunday, March 15. This Spanish-language retreat invites participants to step away from daily routines and technology for an immersive experience rooted in mindfulness, ancestral philosophy and research on the benefits of time spent in nature.
Held across the sanctuary’s 20-acre preserve, the day draws from 2,600-year-old vipassana traditions and contemporary neuroscience exploring how nature reduces anxiety and supports emotional balance. Guests are encouraged to disconnect from their phones and engage fully with the present moment through guided meditation, mindful movement, contemplative walks and sensory awareness practices.
The program includes morning refreshments, intention-setting, seated meditation, Dharma reflections, a guided nature walk, silent mindful lunch, sound healing, journaling and group sharing. Participants receive a meditation cushion, journal, Heart Stone and yoga mat for use during the retreat.
The experience is led by Suzanne Jewell, Chief Experience Officer of Patch of Heaven Sanctuary and a certified mindfulness meditation teacher trained through UC Berkeley’s Greater Good Science Center and Sounds True. A former global television executive, Jewell integrates mindfulness, resilience training and forest therapy into her retreats and workshops.
This quarterly retreat series is designed to cultivate community among nature-centered practitioners and offer a structured day of reflection, restoration and mindful exploration within one of South Florida’s unique natural sanctuaries.
