Miami International GuitART Festival: Hande Cangökçe

A solo and chamber program highlights the depth and lyricism of Turkish folk traditions through classical guitar.

Presented as part of the Miami International GuitART Festival, this concert features Turkish virtuoso guitarist Hande Cangökçe performing original solo arrangements of traditional Turkish folk songs alongside duo works by composer and guitarist Mesut Özgen. The program reflects a dialogue between folk heritage and classical technique, revealing the expressive range of the guitar across regional melodies and contemporary interpretations. The performance is presented in memoriam of Kemal Atatürk and is sponsored by the Turkish Consulate General in Miami and Turkish Airlines.

Hande Cangökçe is internationally recognized for her work as a soloist, recording artist and educator, with a career spanning major festivals, premieres of new works and extensive academic leadership in Türkiye and abroad. Her performances draw from classical, folk and early music traditions, informed by advanced studies in both modern guitar and historical lute practices.

The Miami International GuitART Festival runs February 15-22 and includes concerts, master classes, lectures and a luthiers expo. Festival passes are available for access to all events at a reduced rate.
