Miami’s newspaper history comes into focus with a documentary screening about the final days of The Miami News. MOAD Movies: The Last Days of the Miami News takes place Thursday, August 6 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Freedom Tower Miami.
Presented by the Museum of Art and Design at Miami Dade College, the screening features Mel Kiser’s documentary capturing the final operations of the local newspaper as staff prepared its last issue. Filmed with broad access to the newsroom and production areas, the documentary offers a behind-the-scenes look at the closing of a publication that once played a significant role in Miami’s civic and media landscape.
Katharine Labuda, Special Collections & Archives Librarian for the Miami-Dade Public Library System, will introduce the film. Free parking is available for attendees in the MDC garage at 500 NE Second Avenue, between NE Fifth and NE Sixth Streets.
