MOCA miniMakers: The Myth in Me

Young artists can reimagine themselves as mythical creatures during a hands-on art workshop at the Museum of Contemporary Art, North Miami. Inspired by the work of exhibiting artist Hiba Schahbaz, this family program invites children to explore identity and transformation through creative self-portraiture.

MOCA miniMakers: The Myth in Me takes place Saturday, March 7. Participants will design self-portraits that merge human features with elements of centaurs, mermaids, dragons or entirely original beings. Using drawing, collage and watercolor techniques, children will experiment with layering and expressive mark-making while developing imaginative characters rooted in personal storytelling.

Designed as an interactive experience for families, the workshop encourages creativity and self-expression in a museum setting, offering a playful introduction to themes reflected in Schahbaz’s work.
