A collection-based exhibition tracing three decades of acquisitions and artistic dialogue highlights key works at the Museum of Contemporary Art, North Miami. Presented as part of MOCA’s 30th anniversary series, Anchors of Light revisits the museum’s permanent collection through new curatorial perspectives.
On view from April 15 through October 4, the exhibition features more than 65 works selected from MOCA’s collection of over 600 pieces, spanning film, sculpture, painting and print. Curated by Camargo, the presentation creates new relationships between artists based in Miami and those working internationally, emphasizing shared themes and unexpected connections.
Works by artists including Dawoud Bey, Ian Hamilton Finlay, Dennis Oppenheim, Alfredo Jaar, Barbara Jones-Hogu, Pat Steir, Robert Chambers, Pablo Cano and Purvis Young are brought into dialogue, offering a reconsideration of the collection’s scope and evolution. Through these pairings, the exhibition reflects on how the museum’s holdings continue to shift in meaning over time.
