Movement, Sound, and Abstraction

Movement, sound and contemporary abstraction come together in an evening program at Freedom Tower Miami led by performance artist Smita Sen and the immersive sound collective Ressonnance. Taking place Saturday, October 10, the event is presented by the Museum of Art and Design at Miami Dade College in conjunction with the exhibition Abstraction as Legacy.

Sen begins the evening with a guided exploration of the exhibition, connecting the works on view with her own practice across sculpture, dance-based performance and technology. Her approach considers the body as a record of memory, tension and lived experience, inviting visitors to engage with abstraction through sensation and movement rather than interpretation alone.

The program continues with Ressonnance, founded by trumpeter Stéphane Clément and sonic artist Nicolaus Gelin, who will create a live sound response to the gallery environment. Together with Sen, the collective will lead a performance that uses movement, breath and sound as alternate ways of experiencing the exhibition.
