N.I.M.B.A. (New Ideas Make Bold Artists) Culmination Showcase
Sep 27, 2026
From: 6:00 PM to 8:30 PM
West African dance, drumming and cultural storytelling come together in a performance tracing a two-year artistic exchange between South Florida and Guinea. Presented by Delou Africa, Inc. on Sunday, September 27 at the Little Haiti Cultural Complex, the N.I.M.B.A. Culmination Showcase brings the organization’s New Ideas Make Bold Artists project to the stage.
The initiative began in December 2024, when Delou Africa artists traveled to Guinea to study with AWA Guinean Percussion and deepen their understanding of Guinean dance, music and the traditions of the Baga people. Since returning to South Florida, participants have continued that work through workshops, rehearsals and community-based cultural exchange.
The performance draws particular inspiration from the Nimba mask, a Baga cultural symbol associated with fertility, growth, abundance and continuity. Through newly developed dance and music, the showcase reflects on how traditional knowledge can be carried forward, reinterpreted and shared with new generations.
