Jul 11, 2026
From: 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM
Early 20th-century chamber music and art song come together in a program tracing new musical directions in Germany and Austria. Orchestra Miami’s Neue Musik: Art Nouveau Music in Germany & Austria takes place Saturday, July 11 at Trinity Episcopal Cathedral in Downtown Miami. The concert concludes this month’s Saturdays at Trinity chamber music series with works by Alban Berg, Carl Frühling, Alma Mahler and Gustav Mahler.
The program explores music from a period when composers were searching for new sounds and forms while still drawing on the color and intensity of late Romanticism. Selections include Gustav Mahler’s rarely performed Piano Quartet in A minor, his only surviving chamber work, along with Carl Frühling’s Clarinet Trio in A minor, Op. 40. The concert also includes songs by Alma Mahler, Gustav Mahler and Alban Berg, highlighting different approaches to the German Lied.
Performers include Orchestra Miami musicians Mei Mei Luo, violin; Gregory Falkenstein, viola; Christopher Glansdorp, cello; Ashley Garritson, cello; Richard Hancock, clarinet; mezzo-soprano Erika Vasallo; soprano Dalila Lugo and artistic director Elaine Rinaldi at the piano.
Admission is pay-what-you-wish starting at $5, with reserved front-row seating available for $30. A wine and bubbly reception with the artists follows the performance. Free parking is available at Trinity Episcopal Cathedral, with additional parking nearby and Metromover access via the Omni Station.
