New Music Miami ISCM Festival: Adam Tendler
Mar 11, 2026
From: 7:00 PM to 9:30 PM
A piano recital centers on quiet radicalism, sustained attention and the expansive inner worlds of one of America’s most influential experimental composers.
XXIX New Music Miami ISCM Festival: Adam Tendler takes place on Wednesday, March 11, at The Betsy Hotel on Miami Beach. GRAMMY® Award-nominated pianist Adam Tendler presents a program honoring the centennial of Morton Feldman, whose music reshaped postwar composition through its emphasis on duration, timbre and near-whispered intensity.
Long recognized for his fearless commitment to contemporary repertoire, Tendler has earned acclaim for performances that balance precision with emotional depth. His interpretations of Feldman’s work invite listeners into music that resists spectacle, unfolding instead through subtle shifts, floating harmonies and a heightened awareness of time and space. The result is an immersive listening experience that rewards patience and presence.
The evening is part of the XXIX New Music Miami ISCM Festival, a long-running series dedicated to presenting adventurous new music in intimate settings. Festival programs pair performances with contextual conversation, offering audiences rare access to the ideas and processes shaping contemporary composition.
Presented by the FIU Wertheim School of Music & Performing Arts, with support from the City of Miami Beach and partner institutions, the concert is free and open to the public.
