Nobody Listened
Feb 20, 2026
Starting: 7:00 PM
A historically significant documentary examines the early aftermath of the Cuban Revolution through firsthand testimony and long-suppressed perspectives.
Presented by the Miami Film Festival as part of its Cuban Cinema Series, Nobody Listened screens Friday, February 20 at the Koubek Center. Directed by Jorge Ulla and the late Néstor Almendros, the film brings together voices of intellectuals, workers, politicians and former political prisoners to document decades of persecution, imprisonment and human rights violations in Cuba. The accounts reflect experiences from across Cuban society, including both former supporters of the revolutionary process and those who opposed it.
Originally released internationally in 1987, the documentary was described by Le Monde as “the story of an overlong silence” surrounding the unraveling of Castroism. Shown in Spanish with English subtitles, the film is regarded as an enduring historical record and a broader reflection on the consequences of totalitarian systems, presented as part of Miami Film Festival’s ongoing exploration of Cuban cinema.
