Objet d’Ikebana
Feb 01, 2026
Two sessions: 11:00 AM and 1:30 PM
A hands-on floral design workshop introduces the principles of Japanese ikebana through guided practice in a garden setting.
Objet d’Ikebana takes place on Sunday, February 1, at the Miami Beach Botanical Garden on Miami Beach, with two identical beginner sessions offered at 11 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Led by Sensei Stephan Eberhagen, the class focuses on the Sogetsu school of ikebana, emphasizing creativity, structure and the philosophical foundations of the art form.
Each 90-minute session is limited to a small group and guides participants through basic upright-style Moribana, beginning with a brief introduction and demonstration, followed by hands-on arrangement time and group discussion. Flowers and greenery are provided as part of the class.
Participants are asked to bring their own ikebana tools, including a flat container (suiban), flower pin holder (kenzan) and ikebana scissors, or arrange for a kit in advance. The two sessions cover the same material, and attendees are encouraged to register for one session only.
