Opening Night Film & Party: The Dinner
Apr 23, 2026
Starting: 7:30 PM
An outdoor screening and celebration at the Miami Beach Botanical Garden opens the OUTshine Film Festival with a feature film and post-screening party. Taking place Thursday, April 23, the event marks the start of the annual LGBTQ+ film festival with a program that combines cinema and social gathering.
The opening night presentation features The Dinner (La Cena), a film set in 1939 Spain that follows a maître d’ tasked with organizing a banquet for Franco’s regime using imprisoned Republican chefs. As the story unfolds within the confines of a hotel kitchen, the narrative explores themes of identity, survival and resistance, with performances by Asier Etxeandia and Mario Casas.
Following the screening, the evening continues with an outdoor party in the garden setting. As the kickoff to the festival, the event introduces a broader lineup of LGBTQ films and programming presented throughout the festival’s run.
