Quinteto Astor Piazzolla
Nov 07, 2026
Starting: 8:00 PM
Astor Piazzolla’s nuevo tango legacy comes to the Knight Concert Hall through a performance by the ensemble dedicated to preserving and extending his work. Quinteto Astor Piazzolla performs Saturday, November 7 at the Adrienne Arsht Center as part of the 2026-2027 Live at Knight series. The program features music from the quintet’s new album, Le Grand Tango.
Formed to honor the work of Argentine bandoneon player and composer Astor Piazzolla, the quintet has toured internationally for more than 25 years and has won Latin Grammy Awards for Best Tango Album in 2019 and 2023. The ensemble’s repertoire reflects Piazzolla’s transformation of tango into a concert form shaped by classical, jazz and modernist influences.
Under the musical direction of Julián Vat, the group brings together Pablo Mainetti on bandoneon, Matías Feigin on piano, Serdar Geldymuradov on violin, Armando de La Vega on guitar and Cristian Basto on double bass. Together, the five soloists present Piazzolla’s music with an emphasis on its rhythmic drive, lyricism and chamber-music precision.
