An evening of dance-centered documentary shorts examines how movement, place and process translate to the screen through the work of local and national artists.
ScreenDance Miami Festival 2026: Miami Incubator Documentaries takes place on Thursday, January 22 at the Light Box Studio at Miami Theater Center in Miami Shores. Presented by Miami Light Project as part of the annual ScreenDance Miami Festival, the program features a curated selection of short films that lean toward documentary storytelling, followed by a conversation with participating filmmakers.
The screening highlights artists and companies with longstanding ties to the Light Box, alongside additional contemporary works exploring dance created for the camera. Films in the program include Organism by Colette Krogol and Matt Reeves, W by Lisa Kusanagi and Li-Chin Li, your love: beside me by Ali Kenner Brodsky and Rich Ferri, Grass Stains 2024 by Alexa Caravia and Pioneer Winter, Adele Myers and Dancers Presents: Miami DanceMakers Documentary by Enrique Villacreses, Adele Myers, Erika Loyola, Clinton Harris and Cecilia Benitez, and Raison D’être by Randy Valdes. The total runtime is approximately 57 minutes, followed by a post-screening discussion.
ScreenDance Miami is a multi-venue festival that showcases emerging approaches to dance on film, supporting artists working at the intersection of choreography and cinema while offering audiences insight into this evolving art form.
