Fri & Sat: 8:00 PM | Sat: 3:00 PM | Sun: 4:00 PM
Flamenco singing, dance and guitar come together at the Adrienne Arsht Center for a festival program centered on cante flamenco. Siempre Flamenco’s 20th annual Festival de Cante Flamenco runs Friday, July 10 through Sunday, July 12, with four performances across the weekend. The program is part of the company’s long-running effort to present flamenco traditions rarely heard outside Spain.
This year’s lineup features dancers Rafael Campallo and Raquel Heredia, both making their first festival appearances, along with singers Mari Peña, Diego Amador Jr. and Javier Heredia. Guitarists Jose Cortes Pansequito and Antonio Moya join founding members Paco and Celia Fonta, whose work with Siempre Flamenco has helped establish the festival as a recurring showcase for Spanish flamenco artists in Miami.
The program highlights cante flamenco, the vocal tradition at the heart of the form, alongside dance, guitar and rhythmic interplay. Audiences can expect neoclassical and traditional flamenco elements, with performances drawing on influences rooted in Spain’s musical history and shaped by Moorish, Gypsy and Jewish traditions.
