Simón Bolívar y Las Americas Day
Jul 23, 2026
Starting: 4:00 PM
A wreath-laying ceremony, civic remarks and cultural observance honor Simón Bolívar’s role in Latin American independence at Collins Park in Miami Beach. The eighth annual gathering takes place Thursday, July 23 at 4 p.m. in front of the Bolívar monument at 21st Street and Collins Avenue, with this year’s program highlighting Venezuela.
Presented by the City of Miami Beach, the ceremony includes an invocation and wreath presentation from the Office of the Mayor and Commission. Each year, the Miami Beach Hispanic Affairs Committee recognizes one of the countries connected to Bolívar’s independence campaigns.
Known as El Libertador, Bolívar helped lead movements that contributed to the independence of Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador, Panama, Peru and Venezuela from the Spanish Empire. Cafecito will be served following the ceremony.
