Mar 25, 2026
Starting: 8:00 PM
The story of social reformer Francesca Cabrini comes to the screen in an outdoor showing at SoundScape Park.
SoundScape Cinema Series: Cabrini takes place Wednesday, March 25 at SoundScape Park. Directed by Alejandro Monteverde, the 2024 film centers on Francesca Cabrini, an Italian immigrant whose work among New York City’s poorest communities led her to challenge political resistance in pursuit of housing, healthcare and education for orphaned children. Set at the turn of the 20th century, the story situates her advocacy within the realities of immigration, public health and institutional power in a rapidly expanding American city.
The film presents Cabrini’s life as both a personal journey and a broader portrait of early social justice efforts, emphasizing the persistence and strategy required to effect change within entrenched systems.
The screening is part of the City of Miami Beach’s SoundScape Cinema Series and begins at 8 p.m. Admission is free with no ticket required. Guests are encouraged to bring blankets or lawn chairs for seating on the lawn and enjoy the film on the New World Center’s large-scale outdoor projection wall.
