SoundScape Cinema Series: La Vie En Rose
Mar 04, 2026
Starting: 8:00 PM
A richly textured biographical portrait brings classic French chanson and cinematic storytelling to an outdoor screening at SoundScape Park.
SoundScape Cinema Series: La Vie En Rose takes place Wednesday, March 4 at SoundScape Park. Directed by Olivier Dahan, the 2007 film traces the life of legendary singer Édith Piaf, moving nonlinearly through her impoverished childhood, rise to international fame and later personal struggles. Marion Cotillard’s transformative performance anchors the film, capturing Piaf’s intensity, vulnerability and uncompromising artistic drive, and is widely noted for its physical and emotional precision. The supporting cast includes Gérard Depardieu and Emmanuelle Seigner.
Rather than following a conventional cradle-to-grave structure, the film mirrors Piaf’s fractured inner life through shifting timelines and tonal contrasts, pairing intimate character study with period detail drawn from mid-century French music culture.
The screening is part of the City of Miami Beach’s SoundScape Cinema Series and begins at 8 p.m. Admission is free with no ticket required. Guests are encouraged to bring blankets or lawn chairs for seating on the lawn and enjoy the film on the New World Center’s large-scale outdoor projection wall.
