Jennifer Lopez stars as Tejano music icon Selena Quintanilla in an outdoor screening at SoundScape Park in Miami Beach. The Wednesday, October 7 presentation opens the 17th season of the free SoundScape Cinema Series, which projects films onto the 7,000-square-foot wall of the New World Center.
Directed by Gregory Nava, Selena (1997) traces the singer’s rise from family performances in Texas to stardom in the Tejano music scene and her growing crossover success before her life was cut short at age 23. The biographical drama also stars Edward James Olmos as Selena’s father and manager, Abraham Quintanilla.
The PG-rated film is presented outdoors, rain or shine. Attendees may bring blankets and picnic baskets for the screening.
