A group exhibition highlighting contemporary artists from across the region explores themes of spirituality, heritage and connection to place at the Museum of Contemporary Art, North Miami. Presented as part of MOCA’s 30th anniversary programming, the South Florida Cultural Consortium exhibition brings together artists working across a range of disciplines.
On view from April 15 through October 4, the exhibition is co-curated by MOCA Curatorial Assistant Kimari Jackson and guest curator Laura de Socarraz-Novoa. The show features 15 artists, including Jen Clay, Luke Jenkins, Gerbi Tsesarskia, Mark Delmont, Elliot and Erik Jimenez, Diana Larrea, Amanda Linares, Rachelle Salnave, Onajide Shabaka, Lauren Shapiro, Nina Surel, Lisu Vega, Lauren McAloon, Carol Munder and Manuela Gonzalez.
Spanning ceramics, textiles, photography, film and installation, the works reflect the conceptual and material diversity of South Florida’s contemporary art landscape. Through varied approaches, the exhibition considers cycles of transformation and the evolving relationship between identity, environment and community.
