South Florida Symphony: Rimsky-Korsakov, Mozart, Simon & Joachim
Feb 17, 2026
Starting: 7:30 PM
A dynamic orchestral program brings together contemporary voices and classical favorites as South Florida Symphony Orchestra performs at the New World Center under the direction of music director Sebrina María Alfonso. The evening moves fluidly between familiar repertoire and recent works, pairing Rimsky-Korsakov’s vibrant Capriccio espagnol with Mozart’s celebratory “Haffner” Symphony.
The program also features the Florida premiere of GRAMMY-nominated composer Nathalie Joachim’s Had to Be, an intimate meditation on memory and identity performed by acclaimed cellist Seth Parker Woods. Carlos Simon’s Four Black American Dances adds rhythmic vitality and cultural resonance, marking its South Florida Symphony Orchestra debut and underscoring the ensemble’s commitment to contemporary composers.
Presented at the New World Center on Miami Beach, the concert reflects South Florida Symphony Orchestra’s broader mission to expand access to orchestral music through programming that balances tradition, innovation and diverse artistic perspectives. Tickets are available starting at $35.
