Summer Shorts: David di Donatello Awards

Italian short cinema takes the spotlight in a Miami Short Film Festival program dedicated to films nominated for the David di Donatello Awards. Summer Shorts: David di Donatello Awards takes place Thursday, July 9, at O Cinema South Beach in Miami Beach.
Presented by the Miami Short Film Festival and co-organized with the Istituto Italiano di Cultura di Miami, the screening is part of the #FareCinema2026 series celebrating Italian film. The program features four nominated short films from the 71st David di Donatello Awards, often regarded as Italy’s equivalent of the Academy Awards.
Featured shorts include:
- Astronauta / Astronaut, directed by Giorgio Campa’, a drama about a Guatemalan lumberjack seeking to inspire his daughter
- Ciao, Varsavia / Hello Warsaw, directed by Diletta Di Nicolantonio, following a young woman returning to suburban Warsaw after hospitalization for an eating disorder
- Festa di Famiglia / Family Feast, directed by Nadir Taji, a family drama centered on a disturbing incident and the adults forced to confront its consequences
- Tempi Supplementari / Extra Time, directed by Matteo Memè, about a son who learns of his father’s illness after an unexpected stop at a clinic
The Miami Short Film Festival is dedicated to showcasing short-form cinema from emerging and independent filmmakers around the world. O Cinema South Beach is located inside Old City Hall at the corner of 12th Street and Washington Avenue. A city-owned parking lot is located behind the building on 12th Street, with additional public and private parking options nearby. Ticket sales are final.
