Sunset Salons at Vizcaya: Susanne Schirato
Apr 08, 2026
From: 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM
An evening conversation with contemporary artist Susanne Schirato explores the intersection of art, environment and public space at Vizcaya Museum & Gardens. Sunset Salons at Vizcaya: Susanne Schirato takes place Wednesday, April 8 in the Main House courtyard.
Presented as part of Vizcaya’s Contemporary Arts Program, the program features Schirato discussing her site-specific installation Headwind with Vizcaya curator Helena Gomez. The outdoor work evokes the movement of a school of fish through a series of blue-dyed windsocks that shift direction with the wind, reflecting on the relationship between human activity, environmental systems and climate awareness.
Originally trained in environmental art practices, Schirato often explores the interaction between natural forces and human structures in her work. Headwind, her first solo exhibition in the United States, uses wind-driven forms and layered symbolism to encourage reflection on ecological fragility and the broader dynamics shaping the natural world. Doors open at 7 p.m. with complimentary wine, and the discussion begins at 7:30 p.m.
