Synchrony: A Miami Music Week After-Party
Apr 03, 2026
Starting: 8:00 PM
Electronic music meets human connection in an innovative performance that bridges acoustic traditions with cutting-edge technology. Synchrony presents vocalist Susie Green and saxophonist Kyle Hutchins in a three-movement exploration of how relationships evolve when filtered through digital mediums.
The performance begins with pure acoustic dialogue between saxophone and voice, establishing musical synchrony rooted in centuries of shared performance traditions. As technology is gradually introduced, first transforming one performer, then the other, their connection evolves across changing contexts. In the final movement, both performers inhabit an integrated technological space, using technology as an extension rather than replacement of human connection.
Synchrony: A Miami Music Week After-Party takes place Friday, April 3 at the Hormel Innovation Stage as part of the Frost Music Live 2025-2026 Signature Series.
Green serves as Director of Contemporary Media Studio at the Frost School of Music, bringing expertise in electronic music composition and performance. Hutchins contributes his saxophone artistry to this hybrid electronic work that examines the invisible architecture underlying human interactions.
The performance incorporates visualizations based on EEG data gathered during rehearsal sessions, offering audiences a glimpse into the performers' neural activity during collaborative expression. The Frost Laptop Ensemble and Contemporary Media Electronic Instrument Studio join Green and Hutchins, transforming the venue into a multi-sensory environment that reimagines the traditional festival experience.
Through the integration of sound, science and narrative, the performance invites consideration of how human connections endure, adapt and sometimes strengthen across the technological and cultural divides present in contemporary society.
