Ted Rosenthal Trio: Classics Reimagined: Impromp2
Jun 21, 2026
Starting: 4:00 PM
Classical themes meet jazz improvisation in a festival-closing performance by pianist Ted Rosenthal and his trio. The concert takes place Sunday, June 21, at UM Gusman Concert Hall, concluding the Frost Chopin Academy & Festival. The program draws from Rosenthal’s Classics Reimagined: Impromp2, which transforms music associated with Chopin, Brahms, Dvořák and other composers into arrangements for jazz trio.
Rosenthal is known for connecting classical repertoire with contemporary jazz language, using familiar themes as starting points for improvisation, swing and ensemble interplay. The program also includes selections from his recent release High Standards and original works from The Ted Rosenthal Songbook, adding standards-based material and original compositions to the afternoon program.
Selected academy participants will open the concert with performances of works by Chopin. As the final event of the festival, the program brings together the Academy’s focus on classical piano study with Rosenthal’s approach to reimagining concert repertoire through jazz.
