The Creative Process: Flamenco Beyond Tradition
Jun 13, 2026
Starting: 7:00 PM
Flamenco takes shape through improvisation and collaboration during a one-night performance exploring the creative process behind the art form at the Adrienne Arsht Center. The Creative Process – Flamenco Beyond Tradition, presented by Siudy Flamenco Company, takes place Saturday, June 13 and emerges from an intensive residency led by internationally recognized artists Siudy Garrido and José Manuel Álvarez.
Over the course of a week, dancers from Miami and across Latin America engage in physical research, improvisation and guided composition, developing new choreography that expands on traditional flamenco structures. The performance presents works created during the residency alongside selected repertoire, offering audiences a glimpse into how movement, rhythm and interpretation evolve through collaborative experimentation.
Rather than following a conventional recital format, the evening emphasizes process as much as performance, highlighting individual movement language, musicality and contemporary interpretation while maintaining the form’s traditional foundations.
Ticket buyers who also purchase admission to Captura y Fuga by José Manuel Álvarez may receive a 20 percent discount when both performances are included in the same order.
