The D.O.S.E. Effect of Music
Jul 19, 2026
From: 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM
Music’s relationship to mood, connection and resilience becomes the focus of a free conversation combining neuroscience, live demonstrations and emerging technology at Books & Books. The program takes place Sunday, July 19, with former Korn touring guitarist Wesley Geer joined by BandJAM co-founder David Carter and William Hurwitz of BandJAM Miami. The discussion explores the D.O.S.E. framework, referring to dopamine, oxytocin, serotonin and endorphins, and how group music-making may engage these responses.
Geer, founder of Rock to Recovery and author of Rock to Recovery: Music as a Catalyst for Human Transformation, will share examples from his work using collaborative songwriting with people navigating stress, trauma and major life transitions. Carter and Hurwitz will discuss how AI-supported analytics can track participation, sentiment and engagement in wellness programs.
The event includes real-world stories, demonstrations and a conversation about the intersection of music, well-being and artificial intelligence. Admission is free and advance RSVP is requested, though seating is not guaranteed. Books will be available for purchase.
