The Frost Alternative String Ensemble

Contemporary string music moves across jazz, rock, bluegrass, R&B and global influences during a free summer concert at The Bass in Miami Beach. The Frost Alternative String Ensemble performs Thursday, July 16, in the Bass Rotunda as part of the South Beach Jazz Summer Series.

Presented by Power Access, organizer of the South Beach Jazz Festival, the concert features Frost Alternative String Ensemble musicians from the University of Miami and the South Florida community. The group brings classical string training into contemporary settings, highlighting the flexibility of violin, viola, cello and related instrumentation beyond traditional repertoire.

Hosted by vocalist and musician Nicole Yarling, the program is designed for a broad audience, with arrangements that draw from jazz, popular music and improvisational styles. Admission is free with RSVP.
