The Spitfire Grill

A story of renewal, redemption and the quiet strength of community comes to life in a folk-infused musical that opens the newest Mainstage season at the Miracle Theatre. This production marks the beginning of Actors’ Playhouse’s 2025–2026 season, celebrating the company’s 30th anniversary at its historic Coral Gables home.

The Spitfire Grill will run from October 8 to November 2, on select dates at Actors’ Playhouse at the Miracle Theatre. Newly revised in 2024 and based on the 1996 film, the musical features music and book by James Valcq and lyrics and book by Fred Alley. It follows Percy, a young woman recently released from prison, as she seeks a second chance in a struggling Wisconsin town. Drawn there by a page from an old travel book, she finds purpose working at a small diner—the Spitfire Grill—and ultimately helps rekindle a community’s belief in healing, forgiveness and fresh beginnings.

Part of the 2025–2026 Mainstage Season titled A Season of Truth and Illusions, this uplifting production blends folk and Americana to tell a moving tale of transformation. Single tickets go on sale August 1.
