Tracing Art Deco Forms Across Time: Bridges of Style
Oct 15, 2026
From: 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM
Art Nouveau’s organic curves and Art Deco’s bold geometry come into focus in a presentation tracing how one design movement helped give rise to the next. Presented Thursday, October 15 at the Art Deco Museum, the program is part of Miami Beach Culture Crawl and the Miami Design Preservation League’s Tracing Art Deco Forms Across Time series.
Miami Beach artist and MDPL Artist-in-Residence Noel Suarez leads the talk, examining recurring motifs, decorative forms and cultural influences that connect the two styles. The presentation moves from Art Nouveau’s nature-inspired lines, floral patterns and handcrafted ornament to the symmetry, stepped forms, sunbursts and machine-age influences associated with Art Deco.
Suarez is a multidisciplinary artist and educator whose work explores art history, architecture, design and visual culture. The program offers historical context for the stylistic transition that ultimately helped shape the architectural character of Miami Beach.
