Vice City Pillow Talk Live: Dating…In This Economy?
Oct 05, 2026
Starting: 7:00 PM
Money, gender expectations and the changing economics of modern dating come under discussion during a live edition of Miami New Times’ sex and relationships column at Books & Books in Coral Gables. Presented Monday, October 5, Vice City Pillow Talk Live: Dating…In This Economy? brings together journalists, academics and relationship and financial experts for a free conversation about who pays, dating norms, financial independence and the influence of social media on contemporary relationships.
Miami New Times Culture Editor Celia Almeida emcees the program, with Vice City Pillow Talk columnist and author Asha Elias moderating a panel featuring clinical sexologist and sex therapist Dr. Mindy DeSeta, men’s transformation coach Michael Asibuo, University of Miami anthropology professor Pamela Geller and financial educator Hassan Thomas. The discussion will examine how money, sex and gender roles intersect in dating, followed by facilitated small-group conversations inviting attendees to share their own perspectives.
Presented with We Met in Miami, the evening also includes informal mingling and color-coded wristbands indicating whether participants are interested in friendship, dating or community connections. Admission is free.
