Vince Mendoza & The Henry Mancini Institute Orchestra

Jazz innovation meets symphonic sweep as Vince Mendoza leads the Henry Mancini Institute Orchestra in a genre-defying evening at UM Gusman Concert Hall.

Presented as part of the Frost School of Music’s Signature Series, Vince Mendoza & The Henry Mancini Institute Orchestra showcases the eight-time GRAMMY winner’s original works in both big band and orchestral settings. Known for collaborations with artists ranging from Joni Mitchell and Björk to Sting and Gregory Porter, Mendoza brings the same bold musical vision he honed with the Netherlands’ Metropole Orkest to this dynamic program.

Joining him on stage is pianist and Frost School dean Shelly Berg, praised for his modern jazz mastery and longtime creative partnership with Mendoza. Together, they blur the lines between jazz, classical and cinematic traditions in a performance rich with rhythmic drive and harmonic color.
