Vizcaya Late: Spooky Edition with Books & Books
Oct 14, 2026
From: 6:30 PM to 9:30 PM
Early cinema, spooky literature and vintage Halloween traditions shape an after-hours evening at Vizcaya Museum and Gardens. The Halloween edition of Vizcaya Late takes place Wednesday, October 14, with programming developed in collaboration with Books & Books and Capital Horror. Activities unfold throughout the historic estate and include outdoor film screenings, literary matchmaking and hands-on art-making.
A selection of early horror and fantasy shorts traces some of cinema’s first experiments with the supernatural, including Georges Méliès’ A Trip to the Moon and The Witch (La Fée Carabosse), Buster Keaton’s The Haunted House and Disney’s animated The Skeleton Dance. Books & Books also hosts a literary matchmaking experience covering horror subgenres from gothic romance and supernatural fiction to slashers, cult horror and mad science. Guests who purchase a Mystery Book add-on in advance can receive a title selected according to their reading preferences.
The evening also includes mini pumpkin decorating inspired by vintage jack-o’-lantern designs and early Halloween imagery. Food and drinks will be available for purchase, and all scheduled activities are included with general admission, subject to space availability.
