Wata Igarashi

Japanese DJ and producer Wata Igarashi brings his hypnotic, psychedelic approach to techno to an intimate basement sound room in Downtown Miami, joined by local selectors Jonny From Space and Julia Saturno for a back-to-back set. Presented Saturday, October 3 at Jolene Sound Room, the late-night program pairs Igarashi’s intricately layered club sound with two figures from Miami’s underground electronic scene.

Igarashi is known for techno built from driving rhythms, evolving arpeggios and atmospheric detail, with influences extending through jazz, ambient music and the natural world. His 2025 album My Supernova, released on Dekmantel, marked his first full-length record devoted entirely to techno and followed the more expansive ambient and electronic explorations of his 2023 debut, Agartha.

Jonny From Space and Julia Saturno open with a back-to-back set before Igarashi takes over the room. Located beneath the historic Julia & Henry’s building, Jolene Sound Room draws inspiration from midcentury recording studios and 1970s listening culture, with programming centered on Miami’s local music community. The event is open to ages 21 and older.
