We Met at FilmGate Miami: Join or Die Fair

A documentary screening, facilitated conversation and community fair bring Miamians together to explore civic life, social connection and ways to get involved locally. Presented Sunday, October 4 at the Downtown Media Center, We Met at FilmGate Miami: Join or Die Fair pairs a screening of the documentary Join or Die with opportunities to meet local clubs and organizations.

The afternoon begins with a Joining Fair, followed by an introduction and screening of Join or Die, which examines the decline of community participation in the United States and the role clubs and civic organizations can play in social connection and public life. After the film, We Met in Miami leads small-group discussions focused on belonging, participation and building stronger local ties before the Joining Fair resumes.

Optional color-coded wristbands help attendees indicate the kinds of connections they are open to making, and a Connection Card system is available for those who would like help reconnecting after the event. Admission is free and light refreshments will be provided.
