West Indian Literature Conference: Conversations at PAMM
Oct 09, 2025
From: 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM
Pérez Art Museum Miami hosts a special public program of the 43rd Annual West Indian Literature Conference, highlighting conversations at the intersection of literature, history and urgent contemporary issues.
On Friday, October 9, the evening begins with The Sense of Urgency, a keynote dialogue featuring novelist Fabienne Josaphat and writer-musician Anthony Joseph, followed by Juracán – Huracán – Hurricane Stories, a panel with Dr. Angelique V. Nixon, art historian Erica Moiah James, and award-winning author Tiphanie Yanique. Together, these sessions explore how Caribbean writers and scholars respond to cycles of crisis, from natural disasters to social upheavals.
Presented in partnership with the University of Miami and PAMM’s Caribbean Cultural Institute, the program includes live translation in American Sign Language, Spanish, and Haitian Creole, and will also stream on PAMM’s YouTube channel.
