Why the Drama?

Actors, writers and film industry professionals gather for a live cold read and networking session focused on developing South Florida screen talent. Why the Drama? takes place Saturday, July 25 at El Oro Theater inside the FilmGate Miami/Downtown Media Center. Presented by FilmGate Miami, the event is designed as a space for artists to workshop material, hear scripts aloud and connect with others in the local film and media community.
The program features a read-through of screenplays, giving writers, performers and industry guests a chance to hear new work in development. The format supports critique, collaboration and performance practice while highlighting the creative work emerging from Miami and the broader South Florida film scene.
Special guests are expected to include casting agents, filmmakers and media industry professionals. The event also offers time for networking among actors, writers, producers and other attendees interested in independent film and screen-based storytelling.
