Young, Gifted and Black: Opening Reception

Contemporary art by 49 artists comes into focus at the Lowe Art Museum during an opening reception for Young, Gifted and Black: The Lumpkin-Boccuzzi Family Collection. The Thursday, October 22 event introduces an exhibition of 52 works spanning multiple generations of artists active in the global contemporary art world.

Featured artists include David Hammons, Glenn Ligon, Lorna Simpson, Henry Taylor, Kara Walker and Nari Ward, alongside Jordan Casteel, Jonathan Lyndon Chase, LaToya Ruby Frazier, Paul Mpagi Sepuya and Vaughn Spann. The exhibition also reflects a wide range of approaches and materials, from oil and acrylic to embroidery floss, basketball cards, glitter, velvet and feathers.
