Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts of Miami-Dade County

The Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts of Miami-Dade County is Miami’s premier cultural venue. Home to the Miami City Ballet, Florida Grand Opera, Miami Symphony Orchestra and other local companies, it also hosts touring Broadway productions, standup comedians, musicians and dance troupes from around the globe. It’s home to three state-of-the-art theaters in the heart of Downtown Miami: the 2,400-seat Ziff Ballet Opera House, the 2,200-seat Knight Concert Hall and the intimate Carnival Theater.

Home to three-time NBA champions The Miami HEAT, the 20,000 seat FTX Arena in Downtown Miami is a top venue for major concerts—from Justin Bieber to Paul McCartney and Madonna. It’s also home to the more intimate Waterfront Theatre, which seats up to 6,000 people for smaller-scale productions.

Historic Gems

Black Archives Historic Lyric Theater Cultural Arts Complex

Dating back to 1913, Historic Overtown’s Lyric Theater played host to countless legendary performers in its heyday, from Cab Calloway to Count Basie, Louis Armstrong, Nat King Cole, Sammie Davis Junior, Josephine Baker and Billie Holiday. After a period of dormancy, a newly restored Lyric opened in February 2014, reclaiming its title as the oldest operating theater in Miami. Under the stewardship of the Black Archives History & Research Foundation of South Florida, the theater produces Lyric Live amateur nights, the Glasshouse Comedy Experience and a variety of touring acts.

Built in the Spanish Mediterranean Revival style, the Coral Gables Congregational Church is a stunning venue engrained in Coral Gables’ cultural community. It hosts readings by acclaimed authors, as well as world-class jazz and classical concerts. It’s also home to Conservatory for the Arts, a youth music training group.

FPL Solar Amphitheater at Bayfront Park

The FPL Solar Amphitheater is found within Downtown Miami’s 32-acre Bayfront Park, overlooking beautiful Biscayne Bay. The open-air amphitheater attracts musical acts and concertgoers with its laidback, festival-style atmosphere. Annual events like Ultra Music Festival and New Year’s Eve celebrations take over the entire park, making it one of the destination’s most epic venues.

Miami Beach Bandshell

The Miami Beach Bandshell is an enchanting performance venue. Originally built in 1961, the charming amphitheater is on the National Register of Historic Places as a prime example of Miami Modern (MiMo) style architecture found throughout North Beach. With string lighting extending from the band shell, twinkling above the theater’s aluminum bench seats, it’s an incredible venue for al fresco concerts made all the more enjoyable by the ocean breeze.
