When you think of Aventura, it’s hard not to think of shopping—especially shopping at Florida’s largest mall, Aventura Mall. But that’s not the only one. Head just north of that to Hallandale Beach, and you’ll find even more shopping at South Florida’s most elegant horse-racing track, Gulfstream Park. Promising something for everyone, both mega-malls go beyond traditional shopping to offer visitors some of the best restaurants and entertainment in town. Read below to find out why these two shopping malls are a must-do during your next visit to Miami’s Aventura neighborhood.

Aventura Mall

Spread across more than 2.7-million square feet—with more than 300 retailers, from everyday brands to high-end boutiques—Aventura Mall is one of the top five highest-grossing malls in America.

For a little bit of everything, head to one of its five, multi-level department stores; you’ll find Bloomingdales, Nordstrom, JCPenney and separate Macy’s and Macy’s Men & Home Furniture stores. In addition to that, the mall is filled with specialty stores and boutiques carrying everything from clothing for men, women and children to electronics, home furnishings, jewelry, watches, sporting goods, shoes and more. In terms of clothing, store options run the gamut from the everyday to the ultra-exclusive. Ready-to-wear fashion abounds at popular shops like Zara, Free People, All Saints, Hugo Boss, Abercrombie & Fitch and Aritzia, while those looking for luxury designers or couture can wander into stores like Hermès, Gucci, Louis Vuitton, Fendi, Saint Laurent, Givenchy, Balenciaga or Burberry. As the fashion capital of South Florida, Aventura Mall also hosts a bevy of runway shows and trunk events, so be sure to check the mall website regularly to see what’s in store.

But like we said, there’s more to Aventura Mall than just shopping. See the latest films at its AMC movie theater, break a sweat at the Equinox, or treat yourself to a day of pampering at Coco’s Hair Salon & Day Spa. While you’re there, you can check out some of the area’s most popular restaurants. Fill up on gourmet burgers & beers at Tap 42 Craft Kitchen & Bar, inventive sushi rolls at Pubbelly Sushi, Mediterranean at Estiatorio Ornos or Motek, or Peruvian cuisine with a twist at CVI.CHE 105 and Pollos & Jarras. Both Bloomingdales and Nordstrom have their own in-store cafes, and the mall’s Treats Food Hall offers everything from Jrk! to Zuuk Mediterranean Kitchen. Just want to browse and snack? Check out the mall’s weekly indoor farmers markets, where local vendors sell everything from homemade dips and snacks to desserts galore. For a classic, dine at The Cheesecake Factory, where a long menu of anything you could crave awaits.

Gulfstream Park

Gulfstream Park is unlike any other shopping destination in Greater Miami. With a horse-racing track at its center, this entertainment hub is also home to prime shopping, dining, a casino, bowling and live music, making it an excellent place for just about everyone to find something fun to do. In between betting on thoroughbred horses and championship racing, head to The Village at Gulfstream Park, which is filled with more than 20 fashion and children’s stores, home furnishing boutiques, art galleries and more. Great boutiques include Lilly McKay, Bang & Olufsen and Back 2 Back. If you’re shopping for home decor, pop in to Pottery Barn, Crate & Barrel, West Elm, Williams-Sonoma or Z Gallerie. A home isn’t complete without art on the walls, which you can find at Sher Gallery.

You have more than 20 restaurants and bars at the complex, including nightlife venues. Texas de Brazil is an all-you-can-eat Brazilian steak house, while the family-owned Christine Lee’s serves authentic Chinese and pan-Asian cuisine. The upscale Ten Palms holds prime seating and dining, as it overlooks the racetrack with a posh buffet and race day-inspired cocktails. For something more relaxed, head to popular spots like Yard House, Haagen Dazs and La Pizzeria, and end the night with a cocktail at Strike 10 Bowling & Sports Lounge.
