100 Years of Coral Gables
Sep 17, 2025
From: 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM
A centennial celebration at the Coral Gables Museum highlights the city’s history through the release of a new book by bestselling author Les Standiford.
100 Years of Coral Gables takes place Wednesday, September 17, presented by Books & Books in partnership with the Coral Gables Museum. Standiford will discuss Coral Gables: From Bankruptcy to Beauty, which traces the city’s origins from George Merrick’s ambitious vision through the preservation efforts that shaped its modern identity. Conceived with community leaders William “Bill” Kerdyk Jr. and Wayne “Chip” Withers, and brought to fruition with the support of Mitchell Kaplan, the work explores both the challenges and triumphs of “The City Beautiful.”
Admission is free with RSVP, and books will be available for purchase at the event. Refreshments will be served prior to the program.
