An Evening with Daniel I. Pedreira

Political historian Daniel I. Pedreira discusses his latest book, Los desaparecidos del castrismo: Cuba desde 1959, in an evening of conversation at Books & Books in Coral Gables.

Written in Spanish but presented in English, the talk explores Pedreira’s investigation into the more than 600 disappearances that have taken place in Cuba since 1959. Drawing on archival research and personal testimonies, the book reconstructs stories of those lost to state repression and examines the human toll of political violence under the Castro regime.

Pedreira, a Visiting Assistant Teaching Professor at Florida International University and President of the PEN Club of Cuban Writers in Exile, brings both scholarly and personal insight to this discussion.
