Explore the untold legacy of the women behind one of funk’s most influential collectives during an evening with author Seth Neblett at Books & Books in Coral Gables.

On Thursday, October 16, Neblett will discuss his new book Mothership Connected: The Women of Parliament-Funkadelic, an oral history that sheds light on the overlooked contributions of Mallia Franklin, Lynn Mabry, Dawn Silva, Debbie Wright and Shirley Hayden, all vocalists and performers central to the sound and evolution of P-Funk. Drawing on interviews with George Clinton, Bootsy Collins and others, the book traces the rise of Parlet and the Brides of Funkenstein while exposing the challenges these women faced within the music industry.
