Annual Remembrance Ceremony
Jan 29, 2026
From: 11:00 AM to 12:15 PM
A reflective midday program brings together personal testimony and intergenerational dialogue to honor the memory of Holocaust victims and survivors.
The Annual Remembrance Ceremony takes place on Thursday, January 29 in Room 102 of the SIPA II building at the FIU Modesto A. Maidique Campus. Presented by the Steven J. Green School of International and Public Affairs, the event centers on conversation as a means of remembrance and historical continuity.
The program features journalist and filmmaker Leslie Gelrubin Benitah, co-founder of the intergenerational multimedia project The Last Ones, in conversation with local Holocaust survivor Anita Karl. Together, they explore lived experience, memory and the responsibility of preserving survivor stories for future generations. The ceremony is free and open to the public.
