An evening reception offers a closer look at a site-specific media installation exploring the intersection of technology, ecology and memory.
Artist Reception: Aesthetics of Decay takes place Friday, March 27 at The Betsy Hotel on Miami Beach, within The Betsy Orb, an elevated, egg-shaped skybridge connecting the property’s two buildings. Presented during Spring Break and Miami Music Week, the event offers a contemplative counterpoint to the surrounding energy of the city.
Centered on dNASAb’s immersive XR cinematic work, the installation unfolds as a multi-chapter visual narrative projected across the Orb’s curved interior. Drawing from reclaimed marine debris collected in South Florida waterways, the piece reflects on coastal ecosystems, environmental change and the relationship between natural systems and digital culture.
Free and open to the public with RSVP, the reception provides an opportunity to experience the work in a shared setting while engaging with Miami Beach’s contemporary arts landscape.
A monthlong series of evening projections transforms The Betsy Orb into a platform for public art on Miami Beach. Featuring rotating digital works, the installation activates the hotel’s façade with light-based presentations visible from the surrounding area.
On view April 1–8, 10–26 and 27–30 from 7 to 11 p.m., the series highlights artist Jess Bizer as the April Orb Artist in Residence. Additional programming includes a special projection by Arsimmer McCoy on April 9, along with works by Nadege Green and Chris Friday, and an Earth Day presentation featuring DNASAB on April 26.
Free and open to the public, the projections reflect The Betsy’s ongoing engagement with contemporary art in accessible, outdoor formats.
