Art on the Plaza: Magnus Sodamin-Gateway
Through Feb 01, 2026
All Day
Florida’s wildlife is reimagined in a site-specific installation that transforms the plaza at the Museum of Contemporary Art, North Miami.
Magnus Sodamin: Gateway (between the sun and moon) is on view September 25 through February 1 as part of the museum’s Art on the Plaza series. Extending above MOCA’s pond, the work features silhouettes of indigenous animals and plants, including the Florida panther, flamingo, osprey, owl, deer, mangroves and saw palm, rendered in warm pink tones that contrast with the turquoise sky. The installation reflects on the fragility of Florida’s ecosystems while inviting meditation on their natural beauty.
Born in New York and based in Miami, Magnus Sodamin is known for exploring themes of environment and landscape across painting, textiles, ceramics, and drawing. His work has been presented in solo exhibitions at Dot Fifty-One Gallery and Primary Projects, and resides in the collections of the Boca Raton Museum of Art and the Jorge M. Pérez Collection.
