Artist Talk: Anastasia Samoylova
Dec 05, 2025
Starting: 3:00 PM
A featured Art Week program at The Betsy - South Beach, offers an intimate look at photographer Anastasia Samoylova’s newest project, Atlantic Coast (Aperture, 2025).
The artist talk takes place Friday, December 5 in the B Bar and focuses on Samoylova’s retracing of Berenice Abbott’s 1954 journey along the Eastern Seaboard, a body of work that examines dislocation, shifting landscapes and the evolution of the American dream. The conversation accompanies an exhibition of images from the series.
Born in Russia and based in the United States, Samoylova is known for alternating between observational photography and studio-based practice. Since relocating to Miami in 2016, she has explored environmental vulnerability (FloodZone), Florida’s layered identity (Floridas) and the influence of media on global cities (Image Cities). Her recent solo exhibition, Floridas: Anastasia Samoylova and Walker Evans, appeared at The Metropolitan Museum of Art from 2024 to 2025.
Presented as part of The Betsy’s Art Week Miami programming, the event offers a close look at a major new chapter in Samoylova’s career.
